i see, therefore, i am explores identity formation in the digital age, examining online platforms as tools for discovery and self-determination amidst pervasive surveillance.

Concept

Growing up online fundamentally altered my understanding of self and the world. Digital footprints serve as mirrors, revealing our character, interests, morals, insecurities, dreams, and fears. Yet, these self-discoveries come with significant security risks. The same digital journeys that help us understand ourselves are also tools for monetization and marketing.

There is a cognitive dissonance between these using these digital landscapes to build our identities, communities, and relationships, and recognizing it as an ecosystem that exploits and invades privacy. Social media platforms, while enabling self-expression and connection, also track and commodify our personal data. This surveillance capitalism transforms our most intimate digital interactions into profit-driven data points, compromising our privacy and security.
